Thank you for visiting my website!

My name is Michelle Hurd and photography has been my passion for quite a while. I originally wanted to go to school post High School for photography and then changed my mind and went to Business School instead. Photography has always been in my mind though and I have my dad to thank for getting me interested in it while I was in High School. I spent many nights and weekends, while it was his passion, being the subject of many of his photos.

His camera back in the 1990's was a Minolta SLR 35mm camera that he bought brand new and I inherited his Vivitar 35mm SLR. He taught me so much about manual camera operations while he was learning and I found it all so interesting. He even went so far as to purchase dark room processing equipment, chemicals and photo paper. Boy was it cool watching the photos develop in the chemical trays; however, editing was much more of a chore back then and cost a lot more money.

Fast forward to the 2000's and my husband, Russ and I, were blessed with our first daughter, Carlie. While adapting to motherhood, the first year of all of her framed photos were taken at Walmart. Shortly before she turned one, my friend Sharon mentioned to me "you can do that just as well or better yourself". It wasn't long after that when I purchased my first "semi-manual" digital camera. It being quite a few years in between the old Vivitar 35mm SLR and my Canon Powershot S5 IS, I had a lot to brush up on. I have since found and probably always knew in the back of my mind that photography is a hobby that requires constant learning. I thrive on that and am always striving to make my photos better in quality and creativity.

While I am always trying to make my photos original and set myself apart from other photographers - because there are a lot of you out there - I know that some of the most important things I have learned have come from studying the work of others and trying to imitate their fantastic photos in my own way.

We now have two daughters and it has made my photography life even that much more interesting. My youngest is now almost four years old so she keeps me on my toes and is teaching me that photography isn't necessarily about that perfect pose, but it's about that perfect moment. Watching the interaction between my two daughters makes me kick myself for most of the moments when I don't have a camera in my hand. I always want to remember how they are now and how they relate to each other and grow.

I would be flattered at any opportunity I might have to visit with you about a photo session you may be interested in having me take for you. I believe one of the most important things before taking a photo session is to meet you and visit with you about what you are wanting the final product to look like. Communication is key to me and I am ready to talk about a custom photo session for you!
